Heirloom | 2007 Brew Crew Invitational

From 2005 to 2015, we called ourselves the Brew Crew—an ever-evolving mix of family, friends, and a few lovers who shared a common love of beer, laughter, and highly competitive miniature golf.

At the core were Jason, Scott, Charrina, and me. We didn’t just play putt-putt—we boasted about it. Each of us claimed to be the best. Loudly. Shamelessly. Inevitably, the trash talk led to one of those perfect lightning bolt moments: “Let’s host an Invitational.”

The 2007 Brew Crew Invitational wasn’t just a casual game—it was a full-on, multi-day, multi-city event. We played across different courses in different towns. Cumulative strokes determined the champion. Tensions were high, snacks were plentiful, and the playlist was perfectly chaotic.

And in a twist that was equal parts suspicious and hilarious, I—founder and ringmaster of the whole thing—won the inaugural tournament. Scandalous? Sure. Deserved? Absolutely.

This little bobblehead trophy, all grinning and proud, is more than just a prize. It’s a snapshot of a time when adult life still felt like a summer break. It reminds me of the friendships, the rivalries, and the fact that someone always had to keep score.
